Strickland's Frozen Custard was founded in 1936 by Bill and Florence Strickland. During his years as an Akron Pure Milk employee, Bill developed his own rich recipe of cream, eggs, sugar and other ingredients. With his formula perfected, Bill turned his attention to finding an ice cream machine that would quickly freeze the ice cream, while limiting the air whipped into the product. The result was Strickland's award-winning frozen custard.

If you grew up in Akron in the '60's or '70's this was THE place to go for ice cream.Back in the late '80's I use to take my 2 Akitas up there for a bowl of vanilla ice cream.They seemed to know when we were going there.Now I take my son there.Of course he LOVES it.
Stricklands can not be beat. I've been going there since I was a little girl, took my son's there when they were babies and now they're taking their kids. All the flavors are owesome, Banana and Peach are the favorite ones but Chocolate Almond is to die for. It's close to my home. Always fun to take a walk to get ice cream. The grandkids love it. Keep up the good work Stricklands, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
Strickland's custard ice cream CANNOT be beat! Akron-Fulton location is my favorite! A few moments of watching planes, enjoying the sun set while eating a favorite flavor (Grape) is such a cheap thrill. Enjoy!

No one can top Strickland's!! My first ice cream cone was a Strickland's one. We have seen imitators, but unless its smooth, creamy and oh so sweet then it doesn't even come close to Strickland's!!
I grew up with Strickland's right down the road from me. I love the flavors they make and their banana boat is the best!
Ever since I was little my parents took my sister,brother and me there for ice cream.( at the original Strickland's in Akron) It is the best I have ever had and probably ever will. I just hope that I still live in the area so I can take my kids there as well.

I attended and worked at the Univeristy of Akron in the late 70's and during the summer, we would go to Sticklands for lunch!!!! Yummm!
The only thing I can say that it is THE BEST ICE CREAM I have ever had and the different flavors are wonderful. I am so happy that we have one down in Belden Village. My husband, who is from Clevleand, could not understand my feelings about Stricklands until I took him there. Now there is no other place he will go for ice cream. Good ice cream, good memories. That is what Stricklands stands for me!
Im with RandyClause.. Ive been going since I was VERY small.. now 50. And there is no other place for icecream. Once you've had Stricklands you are spoiled for life. No other will do. Strawberry is our favorite. But you cant go wrong with any of them!
My husband is from Akron and raved about the ice cream. When he finally took me there, I could tell why! His favorite is grape (only complaint is it's one of the least frequent flavors.) I go more for the Oreo and chocolate kind of flavors. We were so happy when one opened in Belden Village! Everyone should go to the original at least once. You can't beat driving past Derby Downs and the Goodyear blimp hanger nearby!
